 Summer Series 2010 / 2011

The first of four race events hosted by Eastern Suburbs Cycling Club, the Heffron Summer Series is considered to be a prelude to the Cycling Projects Series.

2011 rings in twelve years for the Summer Series as it continues to improve with each season and maintain its reputation as a noted event on the NSW summer race calendar.

The event is considered by many visiting international teams and individual competitors as serious training ground, elevating the level of competition to a consistently high level.

Where and When in 2011?

Summer Series - Tuesday 9th November - Tuesday 7th December 2010.

Trophy Race - Tuesday 14th December 2010.

Race Format

The Summer Series is conducted in handicap format with grades A, B and C over fifteen laps of the Heffron Bike Track circuit (approx 2km).

Who can enter?

Any cyclist belonging to categories U19 and upward possessing a current domestic racing license. Competitors from overseas must produce an international racing license at point of registration.

How to enter?

Entry is on the line. Registration is open from 5.15pm. Entry fee is $15.00 per person. You must produce your current racing license at point of registration.

Handicapping

Handicapping may differ from week to week according to number of entries in each grade and weather conditions. The final decision is made by the ESCC handicapper. Dispute will not be entered into.

Basic rule of thumb is as follows:

B Grade 1/2 lap on A grade

C Grade 1/2 lap on B grade & 1 lap on A grade

Grading

Riders are to compete in the grade set by their club ranking. A rider cannot elect to elevate himself to the next level other than through consistency and results.

Prize Money Allocation

Cash prizes are awarded each week to the first five over the line plus two grade prizes. Prize money is scaled according to number of entries.

Scenario 1: A grade catches B & C and finishes first. Prize money to first 5 over the line. Also pay first B grader (not in top 5) and first C grader (not in top 5)

Scenario 2: B grade catches C grade and finishes first. Prize money to first 5 over the line. Also pay first A grader (not in top 5) and first C grader (not in top 5)

Scenario 3: C grade finish first. Prize money to first 5 over the line. Also pay first A grader (not in top 5) and first B grader (not in top 5)

Trophy Race

Signalling the last race for 2011 before the season rolls in to 2010 with the Cycling Projects Series, the annual Eastern Suburbs Trophy Race will be held Tuesday 15th December 2009 and will be run in the same format as the Heffron Summer Series over twenty laps.
