All In Scratch Race

Sunday 9th December 2007

Young Matt Anderson from the Lidcombe Auburn club showed all the skills to overcome a red white and blue train that sought to deliver Mark Ardouin to the line.

The race was always set for a bunch gallop with the eastern suburbs riders chasing down any riders who tried to go off the front. Wayne Finnucane and Andrew Duggan drove the final lap to set up Ardouin in the sprint, Finucane kept the pace up down the back straight and peeled off on the squirkle, Duggan took over and launched Ardouin with a about one hundred and fifty metres to go.

Ardouin looked like he was going to do it but Anderson’s throw of the bike on the line was enough to edge ahead.  Duggan had kept going for third and was able to get it over Shannon Lister in a finish so close that it had to be adjudicated by the judges on video.
